Let’s Grow, Play Club The Let Grow Play Club idea is the brainchild of Let Grow co-founder Dr. Peter Gray, an eminent psychologist who has studied the crucial role of unstructured, mixed-age ‘free play’ in developing children’s creativity, confidence, and ability to thrive. Play is an essential part of children’s development, and when adults get involved, these opportunities are often lost. ISY would like to promote opportunities for students to play independently through the introduction of this ASA. The ASA is an opportunity for students to take part in free play. Students will choose what to play and who to play with, organize their games, and make their own decisions. While an adult will be on duty in case of an emergency, they will not be involved in the play that is taking place. This will allow students to work together and have fun without adult intervention. Parents will be required to sign a permission form for their child to participate. PERMISSION FORM Agree(Required) I understand that during the Let Grow Play Club children will be playing independently and solving problems on their own. There will be an adult observer, however, I understand that the adult will not intercede with the play unless necessary. With independent play there may be times when children may get hurt or their feelings may get hurt, I am comfortable with that and will not hold the school or adult observer liable.
